Killing an npc does not mean your child is a pshyco. That really is not even violent in any way. This game has the option to kill peaceful npc's for reward in game. Most of whom you kill are just dragons, trolls, undeads, and humans. You can turn off blood and the gore, there is no gore. I think it tells a great message about perseverence. You are a person with will-power enough to try to save the world, even though you are just This game is all about escaping depression, literally. And I haven't even mentioned the incredible storytelling and characters! Nonetheless, only buy this game if you're an experienced gamer. It's an amazing game that I think every gamer should experience, and one upside of the difficulty is the sense of achievement you'll get when you finally beat the game, or even just a particularly difficult section. But despite this, I would still highly recommend Dark Souls. And even though the level design is great and the combat is fun - it becomes less so when you're forced to repeat the same section with the same enemies over and over each time you die (I'm looking at you, Bed of Chaos). The level design is superb and the combat is thrilling - this cannot be stated enough, but sometimes it feels like Dark Souls crosses the line from 'challenging' into 'outright bullshit' a few too many times. One minute you'll be having a great time fighting monsters and exploring sprawling locations, and the next you'll be screaming into a pillow because you just died and got set back an hour of progress.
